I had the honor to address you on se etter on the 4th inse and now beg to enclose follow-copies of the letter and of its enclo- Jures, the copies of my letter to Mr. Tade Cardner, dated the 3rā inst., and of my two letters to Hongkong, dated the 28th ulto.
As I reported to you in my oable of the 3rd inst., the Texes Company is asking for an authoritative denial of the statement made to it by Mr. Jade Gardner of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation definite as this statement is that: "Hongkong Government refusea port and cable facilities any agency in which Janders, Rehders & Co.Ltd. concerned"; and the Bank, on its own behalf, stated that it "oannot aç- cept responsibility of dealing with shipment (ex Tanored) unless it is in the hands of Reise & Company," of which I also informed you in ny cable.
In view of this, and what I reported to you in my letters at resent before you, it is obvious that, unless the Texas Company re- ceives the authoritative denial of this extraordinary statement con- cerning by Company, it will become impossible for us to further handle the Texas business under our contract with that Company, thus allowing
